This World Is A FUNNY Place...

...according to Nolan.

His favorite saying these days is "Dat's sunny!" or "You're sunny!"

Translation: "That's funny!" We hear it at least 100 times a day and it's so stinkin' cute!

The "F" sound isn't quite there yet (although he can identify the letter F easily!)

And yes, I'm a proud mom!

20 weeks!

I am officially half way through my pregnancy--yahoo! We had our "big" ultrasound earlier this morning and were thrilled to see that all is well with our baby BOY! God is good!

Swimmy Swim Swim

I love Google! We've all been jonesing to get in the water and Google enabled us to find the BEST indoor water area we've ever been to! A special kids activity pool, two huge water slides, a lazy river, a "regular" pool and a jacuzzi? We're there! No matter that it was 53 degrees outside. We had a blast at this wonderful indoor water oasis! See ya again soon, Silliman Family Aquatic Center!

Our happy happy water boy!

Two Year Olds And Starbucks Don't Mix

I don't drink coffee often...proabably twice a month...and I typically get decaf. But today was another warm, sunny "I think I'll treat myself to a frappucino" kind of day. Our grocery store conveniently has a Starbucks inside so after doing the dreaded grocery shopping I headed over to the barista and ordered a tall cup of whipped cream topped yummyness.

Frappucinos don't come in decaf (what's up with that, Starbucks?) and since I consume very little caffeine as it is, I indulged...despite the fact that I'm pregnant. Since my drink was topped with whipped cream and resembled a chocolate shake Nolan started whining "Ice cream! Ice cream!" and grabbed it out of my hands as stealthily and quickly as a seasoned pickpocket stealing a wallet. For a child who just recently started drinking out of a straw last week he was remarkably quick to gulp down three or four swigs before I could pry my drink from his tightly clutched hands. I said "Nolan, it's not ice cream! This is coffee and it's only for mommies!"

His response? "Coffee! Yummmy!"

That's just fabulous. My two year old is starting the Starbucks habit at an early age.

When we got home I quickly unloaded and put away our groceries and then ran him ragged outside to diffuse the caffeine effect. Thank God he's sleeping now...and went to bed without a hitch!

It's Starting To Feel Like Spring!

After what seemed like endless days of rain, rain and MORE rain we are finally blessed with some gloriously sunny days! I never knew that the weather in NorCal could be so drastically different from SoCal until moving here. Sometimes I think we must have moved to Seattle or Portland and people are just tricking me into believing I'm still in California. It's THAT different!
Sunny weather has allowed us lots of park time. We all love getting out of the house and being outside, but no one more than Nolan. It's just not in my little boy's blood to be cooped up. He's been known to come down with a good case of cabin fever, just like his mommy, and stare out the window at the cold and rain while pleading with me to go outside. Although we'll very likely see rain again in the next week or so, the fact that the sun is warm and bright, the sky a brilliant blue and the hills surrounding my house a verdant shade of green give me hope. Spring is on its way!

I'm Doin' The Happy Dance!

I passed my one hour glucose tolerance test! I did NOT think I'd pass it, but I'm thrilled I don't have to worry about gestational diabetes...for now, at least. I took the test last Wednesday, on the 17 week marker, and passed. Since I have a history of gestational diabetes I will have to take the test again around week 26 and most likely will have developed GD by then. When you have GD with one pregnncy the likelihood that you'll develop it again in subsequent pregnancies is 90%! But as for now I'm gonna enjoy chocolate milk like it's going out of style!
